Hey guys. I just wanted to do a
little post describing some of the details I skipped over during my video post.
First off I would like to say that I am not a gear snob in the slightest
(within reason). I have had the basic components of my rig since I was fourteen
years old. But I digress… What I am trying to say is that my guitar rig
reflects upon who I am and represents me as an artist. One forth of my current
rig is loaned. My current signal flow is as follows.
·
Fender
American Deluxe Stratocaster >
·
Marshall
Avt20>
·
DI
into Fender Bassman 100.
·
External
Loud Speaker out into Heartkey 410 Bass Module.
This
is my current rig that is not connected to my EFX rig. I have a number of
effect pedals that I plan to experiment with, but for now this is my main guitar
rig.
Again
as I have said I have had most of this equipment since I was around fourteen
years old. My Fender Strat, my Solid State Marshall, and My Fender Bassman have
pretty much been my best friends since early adolescence.
The
Heartkey Bass Module, although a new addition to the family is a welcome one,
the unit itself is on loan from my good friend Kevin Cebulski, and I have to
admit based on the overall sound of my rig, this guy isn’t ever getting his
bass cab back. During which time I will channel my inner Josh Homme and run my
guitar rig through a bunch of bass amps.
I've actually used a Fender Bassman for a bit a few years back. They sound great on guitars. This was before I picked up my Vox, I was borrowing an amp from a friend. I liked the amp a lot actually, it had a nice amount of grit with my hollow body. While I do like it, I've always been more of a British amp guy. I like Vox and Orange amps a lot. Have you always favored the Marshall and Fender lineups more? What draws you to them over other amps? I would like to also see a post sometime about your pedal board. I have only a few pedals right now, but am looking to build up my board. So I am definitely interested to see what other people have going on in that regard. Is this your ideal rig? Or do you have a dream rig that you will someday own? I would like to expand my guitar rig and pick up a nice practice amp. I've even looked into making my own. It would be a fun project. Anyways, great post Phil!
